Minnie Mouse 3rd Birthday Party!

Minnie Mouse Cake!

Our Minnie Mouse Cake! I love it! Made by Cakes by Juju. It fit the tutu cake stand that I made for it perfectly!

Minnie Mouse Mason Jars! Pick up rubber grommets at your local hardware store that have an opening of 5/16". That opening fits the average straw size. Drill a hole in the top of the lid and insert grommet. Don't forget to put a small air hole in the lid as well :)

Minnie Mouse Oreo pops! Double stuffed oreos, little oreos opened with the filling scraped out, pink chocolate and white icing. All you have to do is dip the small oreos in the melted chocolate, insert them into the duoble stuffing of your big oreo, then dip the whole cookie part way in. You may want to dip in the chocolate a few times to get the desired color and thickness. After the pink chocolate hardens add the white line and dots. To add the stick dip into chocolate then carefully put into the center 🙂

Minnie Mouse ribbon topiary

Minnie Mouse Topiary! Wow! This took way longer than I thought it would. It took over 400 pins!

The tablecloth was an ongoing project. It started with the top piece, then I sewed on hot pink tulle all the way around. Then I thought wouldn’t a ruffled skirt be cute? So I added about 13″ of a coordinating fabric. Finally I made stuffed pink Minnie bows and hand stiched them on with some decorative pom-pom yarn swagging in between them.

Minnie Mouse floral centerpiece. These are so cute! I took three styrofoam balls and spray painted them black. I attached them together with toothpicks. The pot is a terra cotta pot painted black with white circle stickers on it for the dots. I hot glued a piece of a white boa around the bottom of the pot. Insert wet foam into the pot with about two inches remaining above the top. Arrange your flowers as you desire. I used bright pink roses, white daisies and white mini carnations. Put your Minnie head on a wood dowel and insert into the foam. It will last for at least a week if you keep the foam wet.

Christmas Chalkboard

December 5, 2012 006

I worked on my Christmas chalkboard last night and I am sooo happy with it! I love my new Chalk Marker, it doesn’t smear or get smudged by little hands. When you make a mistake or don’t like what you’ve done, just use a wet towel to wipe it off. After the water dries, rub a piece of chalk over the spot that was cleaned and then erase the chalk. Now your board is ready to go again!

It can be found on amazon here is the link http://www.amazon.com/Uchida-480-C-0-Regular-Bistro-Marker/dp/B003360RFG/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1354735303&sr=8-13&keywords=chalkboard+markers

Scripture Advent Calendar

December 5, 2012 012

I am absolutely thrilled with this Christmas advent calendar! In each little brown paper craft envelope (Hobby Lobby) I put a different card with scripture that tells the whole story of Christmas! I got the cards from One Dog Woof (attached pdf below).  She did an amazing job putting all the scripture along with a picture/symbol that represents the “theme” verse of each day. Print them out on white cardstock and they will be good for years to come. You can even laminate them if you want to :).

I chose to hang them with little wooden clothes pins on jute twine. I picked out two different coordinating scrapbook papers, printed out numbers 1 – 25 on them and cut them out using a 2″ scalloped circle punch.

My Christmas Mantle

My Christmas Mantle

I love decorating for Christmas! I always say it’s the home decorators dream. One of my favorite places to decorate for Christmas is my mantle. This year I found these beautiful stockings at Khol’s that added just right amount of bling. I love all things that sparkle! Plus, by getting them on Black Friday they were like 60% off! What a deal! I’m all about finding the next great deal. If I can’t find what I want at a price that is affordable, then it’s time to figure out how to make it. I have made plenty of stockings in the past, but I like to change things up a bit. I couldn’t have made these for less than a purchased them so that was a win, win! Time and money, what could be better? I always put a strand of white lights down on the mantle first and then cover it with a big fluffy boa. I put the lights on a dimmer so they aren’t too bright. Then I add the extras…candles, snowglobes, feather trees, whatever coordinates with the theme.
